How it works

Working smoke and carbon-monoxide alarms are the best protection against a fire or a CO leak at home. South Foster firefighters will come to your house, at no charge, to check yours.

During a visit we will:

• Check that you have alarms in the right places — in every bedroom, outside each sleeping area, and on every level of the home.
• Test each alarm and check its age (smoke alarms expire after 10 years).
• Check for a carbon-monoxide alarm near the sleeping areas.
• Answer any questions about home fire safety and escape planning.

If you need alarms or fresh batteries, let us know when you request the visit.
